Hamilton Beach 52145H Dual Wave Versatile Blender, Black Review

I am so happy with my Hamilton Beach Soothie Maker. I use it almost everyday. It is easy to use. I like the features of making a large (gallon size) smoothie for my family or make individual servings with the individual glasses. It is so versitile. The smoothie maker has a strong speed so it does not take long to make a smoothie. I love it, love it!! I recommend this smoothie maker from Hamilton Beach to everyone.

From top to bottom, the Hamilton Beach Dual Wave' Blender is all about versatility and power. Versatility because it's a blender that's perfect for making drinks for a crowd and then it's a personal blender that lets you customize and blend two different drinks at once. Power because it doubles up with two sets of blades and two motors for a variety of blending and serving options. The Dual Wave' Blender switches from an 80-ounce jar to dual 16-ounce single serve jars with ease. At 80 ounces, the pitcher is double the size of most blender jars, yet its powerful dual blades and dual motors (delivering 1000 watts peak power) are able to blend an entire pitcher-full in less than 30 seconds. That means less time blending and more time mingling with guests. With its convenient dispensing spout in place, drinks are served right into glasses, or for traditional pouring, the dishwasher-safe spout can be removed and capped off. When the party's over and it's time for one or two servings, the Dual Wave' blender is ready to make two totally different recipes. How about a strawberry smoothie for you and a chocolate milkshake for the little one? That's easy. With two blending stations, each with individual speed dial and blade set, one or two drinks can be blended at a time, exactly the way each needs to be. If all this blending power and versatility isn't enough, the Dual Wave' blender is also equipped with a high-performing Dual Wave~Action system. This ensures that your ingredients are thoroughly blended for smooth results and no ice chunks every time.

Ninja Quad Blade Food & Drink Maker Review

Ninja Quad Blade Food and Drink Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The blades on this machine to be EXTREMELY, (and I do mean EXTREMELY) S-H-A-R-P.! Think of the sharpest blade you have ever come across -- a razor-blade, or very, very sharp knife -- and you will have some idea of the EXTREME sharpness of these blades. Yep -- even I knicked myself on these blades, before I realized how very, very, VERY sharp they are. Of course, this exteme sharpness makes for extremely good and powerful cutting action -- but one should be aware of this sharpness before purchasing this item, especially if there are small children in the house, who usually have NO limits at all on their curiousity and mischieveness.
These blades cut VERY well, and do every job advertised! Some blenders do their jobs by having a large wattage or ampere rating -- but the Ninja does it with very, very sharp blades. It is more powerful, in making my prized receipe for thick, heavy salmon moule, than even my beloved Vita Mix 5200, (a great machine....for most things.) Just be sure to "prep" the Ninja first, by pulsing a few times to break up the batter a bit first. Those sharp blades sure know to chop things up, and usually, no water or liquid at all is needed! Amazing!
On the negative side, though, it must be mentioned that both the large set of blades, (which fit into the larger blender-size container), and the small set of blades, (which fit into the mini-container), come in TWO SEPARATE PARTS. So, you get a total of four
blade parts. THE BLADE PARTS MUST BE FITTED TOGETHER FIRST, AND/OR DROPPED SEPARATELY, ON TOP OF EACH OTHER, INTO THE APPROPRIATE CONTAINER. Why EURO-PRO did not put both blade parts together, so the user would have only one blade-part to put into each container, is beyond me. The half-blade parts are obviously smaller, and are easier to lose, in both dishwasher or with hand-washing. There is also a small rubbery-plastic part that fits into bowl part, where the blade is dropped in. It is very small and easy to lose, and if it's lost, it's impossible to put the blades in properly.
The main difference, (the only difference, as far as I can see, anyway), between this item and the Euro-Pro QB900 Ninja Master Prep, also offered here on Amazon, is that the item here will give you two extra mini-blend containers for an extra $10.
Also, the "Master Pod" top part is rather heavy, compared to the rest of the set. After all, the hand-held "Master Pod" is where the motor
is housed! It takes a bit of getting used to, holding this comparatively heavy part, (roughly weighing about a pound-and-a-half), and, though handling this part shouldn't be any trouble at all for normally-abled people, if you're handicapped, and sometimes find it hard to lift anything even as light as a pound and a half, I'd think twice about buying this admittedly nifty little machine. Also, one must always KEEP one's finger pressed down ON the "Master Pod" button, to make the Ninja blender work. Because of the power and sharpness of the blades, oen doesn't really have to keep one's finger on the Master Pod button very long -- but if this is problem, please be aware of it. Unlike traditional blenders, or even the "Magic Bullet" machines, one CANNOT use the "Ninja" Blender unless constantly attending to it and pressing down on the top button...I've also found that preparing a VERY SMALL amount of food is impossible in this machine, because the blades -- unlike those of most other blenders I've used -- do NOT reach all the way to the bottom of the containers-- even the mini-containers. In this, it's just like the Vitamix. What do I mean by a small amount? Well, you can't mix one or two eggs in either of the NINJA containers -- because they will not even reach the bottom blade, which is about an inch from the bottom of the container. For mixing such little amounts, use a conventional, "Osterizer/ Waring" type blender, or the "Magic Bullet" series of blenders. This is an important fact to remember, as so many people live by themselves these days, and sometimes only WANT to mix only one or two eggs, etc.
But the NINJA does the job -- all its jobs -- so very well. Just keep its few short-comings in mind before you decide if this machine is really the one for you. Just like Ninja warriors, it's fast, nimble, works on simple, easy-to-understand, (but VERY powerful!), principles, and looks deceptively simple, sitting there on your counter!

I have used different brands of Blenders and Food Processors from various manufacturers in the past, but beleive me or not, this Blender/Food Processor is really the one I am looking for. It has a powerful motor that can easily break ice, plus the Blender jar is made of really thick, unbreakable material, unlike many other Glass Blender jars. One other feature I like about this combo is its wave action technology, which can continuously pull down the mixture in it and this system really works. The Food processor is large enough to chop/mix fruits and vegetables, and above all it saves a lots of space in my kitchen. I have read a lots of bad reviews from many people about other Combos like this, but I don't know what these people are exactly trying to do with a Blender/Food Processor.

Cuisinart CBT-700 Poweredge 700 Watt Blender With Juice Jar Review

Cuisinart CBT-700 Poweredge 700 Watt Blender With Juice Jar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this blender since it looked sturdy and the large glass jar is great and easy to clean. I used it to puree some Butternut Squash soup around Thanksgiving, and it did a good job with that task. I made the same soup a month later, and after I blended the third batch (glass jar full), the blender blades would no longer spin. The blender would power on, then hitting any of the buttons, puree, low, high, smoothie, etc., would result in no action. The motor would appearantly no longer turn.
Undaunted, I returned the blender to Bed Bath and Beyond where I bought it, and got a replacement for free. Great! I then used the replacement to blend another batch, and then upon blending a second batch at two minutes into the three minute blending time, it shut off, never to operate properly again. Same problem as the first blender of the exact same model. It would power on, but again, it didn't matter which button I pushed, the blades would no longer turn.
I don't know if this was a motor malfunction, or if the electronics (circuit board, etc.) somehow where damaged, but the blender was no longer of use to me or anyone else.
It is a nice looking appliance, the glass jar is great, easy to remove and clean, but my experience suggests you not buy this model.

Vita-Mix 1320 Professional Series, Platinum Review

Vita-Mix 1320 Professional Series, Platinum
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My wife and I have two Vita-Mix blenders. We bought one at a fair 6 years ago, and picked up a new-in-the-box commercial model at an auction about 3 years ago. We have used both heavily. Vita-Mix blenders are tall (too tall to fit under typical kitchen cabinets), heavy, loud, and very, very effective. Like most, we've burned through any number of typical home blenders. The Vita-Mix blenders last.
Customer service is superb. We've had exactly one problem - the variable speed dial got really difficult to turn. With about two weeks go to on the original 5-year warranty (warranties have changed since - they're longer now), Vita-Mix fixed the base, including paying shipping both ways, and also told us to send along the container so they could make sure it was in good shape - and then replaced the blade for us.
Vita-Mix blenders come with a tamper, and a lid designed to take the tamper. Most of the time you don't need it. It comes in handy for very thick, very cold blends, like thick smoothies, ice cream, etc. You will absolutely, positively need to have a tamper - or stop and use a scraper - with ANY blender, no matter how powerful, the shape of the container, or configuration of the blades. "Tamper" is actually something of a misnomer. While it is used to tamp at times, it actually changes the mixing dynamics by effectively taking up part of the volume at the center of the container, eliminating cavitation in mixes where that's helpful.
The Vita-Mix base units are heavy because they use heavy-duty motors. Don't be taken in by competing companies' horsepower claims with lighter-duty motors with half the weight. The competitors hit higher horsepower ratings by running their motors at higher speeds. All blender motors run fast, of course, and bumping up the horsepower by pulling more amps this way can be appropriate for some motor applications, but you can't consider one factor in a vacuum. The Vita-Mix motors are heavy, and heavy motors last longer by using heavier cores and windings, both of which make the motor stand up longer to heavy use and heat without breaking down. Vita-Mix containers also employ a heavy flywheel below the blades. That, in conjunction with the heavier-duty motor, is what gives you longevity, and the ability to chop heavy stuff for years. If you look at the motor-to-container connector, you will also see that the Vita-Mix uses a larger diameter connector - less stress, more life, and lower possibility of stripping.
I do wish they were quieter, but the competitors are in the same ballpark, claims to the contrary notwithstanding. The height can be dealt with by simply storing the container away from the base (which we leave on the countertop). My only real complaint is the cost of extra containers. I'd love one of the 32oz containers, but think $100-$120 (typical price at a fair)is too much.

I started with this unit, it immediately failed, the company that's absorbed Back to Basics was quick to send me a new one in exchange for my defective one. In the meantime, I picked up the comparably priced Hamilton Beach Personal Blender. I'm now alternating the two every other day.
It's no contest. The Hamilton Beach may be a simpler and lighter, wimpier-looking machine, but it's an infinitely superior design and is deceptively powerful. It's quick, handy, and clean! I saw this Vita-Mix and a Home and Garden show in Anaheim Califorina. I was very impressed and wanted to but it but I was low on cash so I waited till I had the money and bought the professional version. It comes with a wonderful DVD and the receipe book is just out of this world. This mixer does everything but cook a steak on the BBQ. The DVD explains all the things it can do like make soup and bread dough. I thought I was just going to make fresh fruit with wheat germ, honey and soy protein drinks. I was totally wrong. And I'm glad I am because it is worth every penny. Make sure you get the DVD and book with any model you choose it is worth it. I love mine and I'm sure you will too. The only complaint I would have for this smoothie maker is it took way too long to come out on the market. This is a great smoothie maker for the price. It chops through ice and frozen fruit like it is butter, never any ice chips. As long as frozen fruit and ice are allowed to sit in the liquid portion for about 20-30 seconds and then blended, there are no problems with chunks or smoothie maker motor failure.

I got this for my birthday recently and while it seemed like a cool idea, the gimmick wore off when I realized it was unnecessary. I understand that people want to play god by making small tornadoes, but unfortunately these little tornadoes can also be accomplished by twirling your hand in a clockwise motion. Yes call me old fashioned but I dont need the robots to turn my drinks for me. The batteries die quick, so lets see.. I can save money on batteries by gently turning my hand. They have these things at Bath and Body Works, and all those kind of stores for $10, for $10 I would buy it if you need a shaker, but dont buy it for the gimmick, as it so unnecessary.
One positive note, It can destroy your iphone if Steve Jobs doesn't give us some decent features soon.

Anyone can look like a professional bar tender with this easy-to-use martini shaker--no more rigorous, manual shaking required. With the mixing complete, remove the cap and pour the cocktail into a glass from the drip-free pour spout. Vita-Mix 1319 Professional Series, Onyx Review

Vita-Mix 1319 Professional Series, Onyx
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This blender beats the competition by a mile. There are several things that set it apart besides the power and design, which allows perfectly smooth smoothies, sauces and soups if you want them that way. I reviewed a previous model that is no longer available and notice there's a new model out that doesn't have the middle knob. While you'd still get the easy cleanup, power and reliability of the Vita-Mix, that knob (which is on this model) is something I really value because it allows you to change the speed by infinite degrees during processing.
I find this particularly important when processing hot liquids as you can get a wet 'explosion' if you try to start a blending process too fast, which causes the heat to suddenly expand the contents. I did this once with my small personal blender--bad idea. With this Vita-mix model, you can start at a very low speed and turn the speed up gradually to high. Starting at a slow speed also gets larger items broken up so a good flow can be established to the blending process sooner. I've found the speed control greatly enhances the ability to get the results I want, including dicing small quantities instead of pureeing them, if needed.
I've had my unit for years and have never had any problems. It's a great machine. It gets most any job done just the way you want it. It's no wonder professional chefs choose Vita-Mix over others. Highly recommended.

Awesome. I checked out several reviews and blenders and didn't know what to get. I just wanted a blender that would crush ice and frozen fruit really well without a mess, no leaks, and EASY to clean. This blender is PERFECT. I put in a cup of skim milk and then add frozen and/or fresh fruit and top off with a 1/2 cup of crushed ice. It is ready in 30 seconds! And it blends wonderfully! I don't use big ice cubes though, but it blends the crushed cubes and the frozen fruit like a breeze. I even add wheat germ and peanut butter, no problem! It has it's own cup which you mix the ingredients and when your done mixing you take it off the blender, flip it over, untwist the top and drink right out of the cup! It even has a drinking lid with a snap top. ALL you clean is the blade and when finished with the cup, clean that. TOTALLY easy and hassle free! In my life I need quick cleaning, and major convience... I make the smoothie, put the top on with a straw and go off to the pool with it. GREAT product! Also, its small enough to take with you on trips and doesn't take up counter space. Great for an apartment too!

Remanufactured Breville XXBBL600XL IKON Hemisphere Blender Review

Remanufactured Breville XXBBL600XL IKON Hemisphere Blender
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my second Breville blender. The first lasted about a year and a half which is probably OK considering that we use it at least once a day every day. I liked it because it was powerful, fairly quiet, and nicely designed. There were a couple of little problems but Customer Support took care of those.
The second blender, which I bought this summer, started to leak between the glass jar and the metal cuff about six weeks after I bought it. I called Customer Support and the man I talked to wanted to charge me $40 for a new jar. I said that this was clearly a manufacturing defect so he said, "Meet us halfway. Send us pictures of the jar." So I e-mailed pictures of the jar with the problem area marked in red. Nothing happened. I called back and got a woman this time. She acted as though my pictures had been received but said they had to be evaluated and that she would call me the next day. No call. I called a third time, got a man who I'm pretty sure was the same one I'd talked to before, though he seemed not to have heard of any of this. He said that my pictures had not arrived and told me to re-send them, which I did. I also sent copies to myself, which got through just fine. Nothing happened.
This is a nice blender but basically you're buying it without a warranty. Fortunately we saved the jar from the first blender so we don't have to lay out $40 in order to use it.

With its powerful 750-watt motor and sleek-looking die-cast base, this blender works great for everything from protein shakes to pureed soup or margaritas on the weekends. Its flat push-button control pad offers a backlit easy-to-read digital timer and five speed settings, which include mix, chop, blend, liquefy, and puree, as well as a pulse function and two preset programs for ice crushing and smoothies. The unit's patented Hemisphere bowl/blade system uses a large, semicircle shredding blade positioned to hug the uniquely shaped bowl, leaving no inactive zones around the blades so that all ingredients get thoroughly blended. For added convenience, the blender's 54-ounce engineering-grade borosilicate glass jar resists scratching, chipping, and fogginess, while baked-enamel measurement markings, in both cups and liters, make it easy to accurately measure out ingredients. The blending jar also provides a tight-fitting lid with a loop for simple removal, a generous handle, and a drip-free spout for graceful serving. The bowl/blade system locks into place with a leak-free seal, and the blade can easily be removed for safe cleaning of the jar and bowl/blade system. All parts, except for the base, are dishwasher-safe, and the control pad wipes clean quickly thanks to its crevice-free design.

KitchenAid 5-Speed Blenders with Polycarbonate Jars Review

KitchenAid 5-Speed Blenders with Polycarbonate Jars

I have been looking for a blender for a few weeks now. We have started making smoothies at home and burned up our old one. Our girls like the "Chocolate Elvis" recipe from the local smoothie place which contains peanutbutter, bananas, yogurt, ice, and milk. I guess this is really hard on blenders. I bought one at Target 2 weeks ago that had "700 watts peak power" on the box. It died in 2 days. The power spec on the bottom of the blender said 450 watts. I think that is false advertisement. I have seen this on 2 different blenders now.
I have been leery of buying any blender with the little plastic teeth couplers because of all the bad reviews here on Amazon. I also wanted to stay away from anything with only 450 watts.
I was in another store and saw this blender. It has a new design for where the blades couple with the motor. "Commercial quality couplers with 12 interlocking teeth....coated for quiet operation".
We have had it for a few days now and have made some pretty thick smoothies. So far, so good. No burning smell like the one that was immediately apparent with the Target blender. My youngest daughter complanied that her smoothie was "too smooth". I guess she got used to the chunks of ice that our past blenders have left.
Kitchenaid doesn't seem to advertise the actual power specs on their blenders. On the bottom of this one it says that it draws 6 amps. Which is about 720 watts or about 0.9 horsepower.
My only complaint so far is the soft start feature. The blade starts at a slower speed then quickly increases to the speed you chose. This process still throws everything up into the lid, which is what it should prevent. It works fine though as long as you have the lid on. It also works if you start with the slowest speed and work your way up.
Overall this blender seems to be well made and pretty well thought out. The cord storage on the bottom is a great feature. It has much bigger feet than the previous model. So far, I would highly recommend this blender for the person looking for a good blender in the under $200 range.

It is a year and about 300 smoothies later and we still have this blender. I would highly recommend it!!
