I have replaced the stem three times in ten years or so. I have replaced the bowl once, and one of the blades has broken twice. The motor has held up fine despite all the parts breaking along the way. I have given up paying premium prices to replace parts. I am looking for an alternative which will offer me as large a bowl as this.

After the last one started leaking and the motor finally stopped, I went to our local Kohl's and bought a cheap Bella version on sale. Well, that was a piece of junk. Could not even whirl through soft banana. I decided to try this one and so far I have been very pleased. It easily blends up our morning smoothie. No more big clumps of banana down in the bottom of the container! I use crushed ice and it pulverizes that also. Could not be more satisfied.

(More customer reviews)I received this food processor a few weeks ago and am so pleased! I previously had the Kitchenaid professional 11 cup model and this one is sooo much better! It's amazing what increasing the size by just one cup does! I had this chocolate tofu pie recipe that never quite got blended in my old processer because it was too thick and heavy, but it blends to the smoothest consistency in this one. I no longer have to break it up into batches! Plus, the extra large feed tube is a definate improvement over the older smaller versions.And this one doesn't jump around on my countertop like my older one did a bit. This one just seems REALLY solidly built. Don't get me wrong, Kitchenaids older versions were also the best for their time, this one is just even better!
The design of this model is also very sleek and I'm no longer emberassed having my processor on my countertop.
Please note, this brushed nickel model also comes with an egg wisk, a citrus juicer attachment and an extra work bowl, which don't come with the other models. I noticed this wasn't mentioned in Amazon's description but it should be. That alone justifies the slightly higher price, in addtition to the beautiful stainless finish and larger feed tube.

(More customer reviews)I have owned this chopper for 5 years now....threw out the stupid Cuisinart Food Processor. This gizmo chops nuts FAST! Onions...tomaotes...everything. The key is to keep the blade sharp. I am having a heck of a time finding replacement blades though. The only place I have found them is the big flea market in Yuma, Az. In fact, bought my first chopper there years ago. DO NOT BUY THE MODEL that has 2 blades...or even the one with the straight blades. The curved tripple blades make ALL the difference. I have chopped/sliced some veggies with this and used it to squeeze juice, but it's primary use is chopping. I do a killer "chopped salad" and "fresh salsa" with my home grown tomatoes. You can't beat this item...especially for the bucks. I have arthritis pretty bad, but can still use this chopper effectively.
I have one at home and one in the RV...just can't be without it.

Excellent for dicing or pureeing tomatoes, herbes, and vegetables from my summer garden for sauces too. When I have extra I just add some olive oil to the batch and instant pesto. I can freeze the pesto for later use. The food processor has plenty of power for those smaller jobs.

Amazon happily replaced the appliance. However, when unpacking the new items, the bottom of the food processor mechanism came off. We've promptly returned the second blender for a refund this time. I guess we'll look for another kind/brand.

Oster 4861 blender food processor accessory. Review

(More customer reviews)This attachment came with my blender, and I'd call it a chopper rather than a food processor (there is no top load to add stuff while you are mixing, or top blade for slicing) but it's a very capable chopper. I got rid of my big bulky food processor and put this under the counter, saves me tons of space. As a chopper, it's excellent. The blades may look small, but they perform well. Luckily I haven't dropped mine, so can't comment on the durability of them. But it doesn't look very heavy duty in contrast with the jar that came with the blender itself - which is glass and very nice.
My only recomendation would be to look at getting the attachment that has the top loader. It costs more, but I often find myself adding stuff to this chopper and having to stop and twist off the top to do it. It's a little more work is all. Unfortunately if you want the top/slicer grator from Oster, the only one I found was the one that comes with the Fusion model. It looks like an excellent combo, but I'm not ready to upgrade my blender at the moment and unfortunately it doesn't look like Oster sells that food processor attachment seperately.
Anyway, if you just want a chopper then get this one and save a few bucks. Just don't drop it!

It has a powerful motor that can easily break ice, plus the Blender jar is made of really thick, unbreakable material, unlike many other Glass Blender jars. One other feature I like about this combo is its wave action technology, which can continuously pull down the mixture in it and this system really works. The Food processor is large enough to chop/mix fruits and vegetables, and above all it saves a lots of space in my kitchen. I have read a lots of bad reviews from many people about other Combos like this, but I don't know what these people are exactly trying to do with a Blender/Food Processor.

(More customer reviews)I absolutely love my Cuisinart Stand Mixer and have been slowly purchasing the attachments as needed. This one was a mistake; not for lack of productivity though. As a food processor it works fantastically. The attachment is FAR too LOUD. As written previously by another reviewer, I don't know who could stomach the unit running on Speed 12! I can barely go past 4 or 5. I have only used this attachment once because of the noise - it is the most ear shattering racket you will ever hear.
I decided to purchase a dedicated food processor appliance and use my mixer solely for mixing, pasta making and blending (I received the blender attachment free, but have yet to use it - hopefully it's quieter, but it uses the same power port as the food processor).
This attachment will do the job, but I recommend investing your money into a separate unit to spare your hearing, and not to scare your pets and children.

And it is very easy to clean. There is nothing bad about it at all! You can even make coffee with this machine. (More customer reviews)Very unhappy with this much touted processor You can't make a decent pesto sauce, neither the small blade for mini bowl, or normal multipurpose blade chops basil or small leaves well..For pesto you need a different appliance or mortar and pestle, not this behemoth. Worse, it is impossible to clean the multipurpose blade inside the shaft. When you make a paste or forcemeat it sticks like crazy glue to the plastic and no amount of soaking, heavy duty cycles in the dishwasher or wishful thinking can get the gunk out of the blade. Other foods stick to the plastic bowl - very difficult to clean, even after two runs in a good dishwasher. Kitchen Aid customer service couldn't offer any advice. Totally useless to call them. They are of absolutely no help.
This appliance is very heavy, don't count on taking it out each time. It has to have a dedicated spot on the counter. Doesn't come with fine slicing or shredding blade. Pulse action works well. Next time I'll go back to the more reliable and user-friendly Cuisinart.

Cuisinart DFP-3 Handy Prep 3-Cup Food Processor Review

(More customer reviews)Having picked this item up on an Amazon special, I must first say that the price-performance ratio is excellent. The machine comes with several blades and a chute attachment. If you have used a Cuisinart machine before, assembly and operation will be very, very simple. That the pieces are dishwasher safe is a boon, as well. I like this little processor; its small size is just right for our empty nest food prep.
There are a couple of things Cuisinart could perhaps rethink. It is awkward to remove the slicing or shredding blade. The plastic used on several of the pieces seems vulnerable to staining. The shredding blade seems, for some ingredients, to "pulverize" better than to shred. It would also be nice to have at least one other size of slicing disc and a plastic chopping blade included. Those refinements would make this machine nearly perfect for me.
Still, this sturdy workhorse is a welcome addition to our kitchen. Those who have smaller amounts of ingredients to prep will find that it is a useful complement to other kitchen tools.

The built-in storage drawer is a great idea but the owners manual leaves something to be desired, The use directions are very limited but "Hey" they do include an eclectic recipe card collection of seven different uses/recipes, whoopee. There are a number of attachments, blades, etc but the way they lock or don't lock or how some of them attach and work is pretty sloppy, like the emulsifier egg whipper, it is loose on the spindle and when you hit the power it slams into a plastic stop which I can already see issues with broken plastic parts, hopefully there will be replacement parts in the near future because I am certain I will be in the market for them. I will say that the blender does work well but a good blender can be had for a lot less money. It was purchased for the mutiple attachments and functions and the hope to eliminate some of the electric gadgets now cluttering our counter tops and consolidate into one machine. So far I have not been impressed during usage.

In principle it is a really good idea but the manufacturer should have included hearing protection. I use my earplugs when I use this machine. It's as loud as a skill saw. The blender design is such that there are always chunks in my smoothies. I can't make a full recipe of meatloaf in the processor.
I'm going to have my old Cusinart DLC-7 repaired and go back to it.
