(More customer reviews)This Nostalgia Electrics Old Fashioned Lemonade Cart was on my wish list this past Christmas, and I feel fortunate to have received it. Not detracted by the fact that it looks like a toy, I had a serious intention in mind for it: To put the hundreds of lemons that would otherwise begin to rot in my yard to good use. Happily, this product delivered more than I had hoped for. It eliminates the step of either whipping the water and sugar together to the point where your arm wants to drop off, or heating the water to dissolve the sugar faster (and then having to compensate for the heated water by adding extra ice, risking an overly diluted lemonade in the process). This citrus juicer solves this problem by continuously stirring the contents of the 8-cup capacity acrylic pitcher the entire time the extraction motor is active (and yes, you read that right: It can hold a full 8-cups, not the meager four cups implied by the 1-quart designation in the description).
Not only do the plastic paddles combine the juice and the sugar effectively, but to that you may add crushed ice. This all but eliminates the need for refrigeration prior to serving. I wasn't loving the short spout, the constant dribbles and the hassle of finding just the right catch basin while juicing with my Cuisinart Citrus Pro Juicer. This product, by contrast, all but eliminates the usual citrus juicing inconveniences. That means it will stay out on the countertop and get regular use, which is more than I can say about the Cuisinart, or even the Jack Lelanne juicer I also own.
The LJS-402, the model designation for this product, offers a relatively quiet 25-watt reversible motor (rotates clockwise/counterclockwise). The four-legged lemonade stand design prevents the unit from rocking and walking the countertop the way my Cuisinart Citrus Pro Juicer does. It also offers a sliding switch that makes it possible to increase or decrease the amount of pulp in the juice to suit one's preference. And unlike many citrus juicers on the market, the container in which it collects the juice also doubles as a pitcher that can go from stand to refrigerator because it can be removed from the base on which it sits. So to recap, there's no need to come up with a receptacle into which the juice flows, it dispenses easily from the attached spout, and it is possible to stow the leftovers in the refrigerator without fishing a pitcher out of the cupboard. Nifty.
Bottom line? This product may look like a toy and sadly may also feel like a toy. Nevertheless, it is surprisingly convenient, and a timesaver compared to competing products. Moreover, there are fewer items left over to clean up because the process is self contained from start to finish. This is an ingenious design, a great kitchen conversation piece ---- you can't help but smile at a product that looks like this one does ---- and one that I ultimately hope Nostalgia Electrics will market more aggressively. As of this writing, you won't find this product in your local Bed, Bath & Beyond, nor at Walmart or at Macys. That's a real shame. Nostalgia/Helman Group has come up with their share of duds, including the donut maker that bombed this past holiday season (judging from the almost unanimously negative reviews elsewhere on Amazon). By contrast, this compact, space-saving citrus juicer is not the gimmick it may first appear. I personally like this juicer so well that I am seriously thinking about buying a second one to stash away before it is discontinued -- and I never buy two identical copies of any product so that's saying something! Kudos to Amazon for stocking it.

Make refreshing and delicious lemonade, limeade, and more with this unique appliance. The old-fashioned lemonade stand juices fresh citrus fruits whole while simultaneously mixing ice and other ingredients. An "on/off" switch activates the juicer and stirring mechanism, and its dispensing spout with a simple on/off valve ensures graceful, drip-free serving. In addition, the unit's two-wheel-cart design features a see-through tank, four legs for stability, and a yellow side panel with the words "Lemonade 5 Cents" in a handwritten style. Great for birthday parties, barbeques, carnivals, or fundraisers, the 25-watt lemonade juice stand measures 9-2/5 by 6-2/3 by 15-2/7 inches and carries a 90-day warranty.
