(More customer reviews)The main reason I purchased this waffle maker was that the description implied that the waffle plates were removable. They are not removable, and so you can only clean the waffle maker with a damp cloth.
"Dishwasher-safe drip tray and nonstick plates"
(I already have a waffle iron that I got fed up with because it was so difficult to keep the plates clean - at this point it isn't possible to get a waffle out because of how sticky everything is. Trying to fix that with a damp cloth is a nightmare.) I would have gotten a waffle maker that had more reviews (like Oster 3874 Flip Nonstick Belgian Waffle Maker) but I'd hoped I had found one with removable plates. I may return this one so I can get something I'm more sure of, so I haven't used it yet. I'll update this review with my results later.

Perfect for waffle lovers, this easy-to-use appliance makes delicious 1-inch-thick, 7-inch-round, Belgian-style waffles that are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Simply pour batter into the center of the round-shaped waffle plate and lower the lid. The unit's rotating function helps evenly coat the batter on both the upper and lower waffle plates. The result, gourmet-quality Belgian waffles with easy-to-cut sections and extra-deep pockets to fill with maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh fruit, or other favorite topping. The appliance also provides light to dark browning control to accommodate individual preferences, "power" and "ready" indicator lights, a cool-touch handle, and a fold-away design for compact storage. Even more, its nonstick plates and removable drip tray clean up easily by hand or in the dishwasher, and instructions and recipes come included. The waffle maker measures approximately 15 by 8 by 7-1/2 inches.
