(More customer reviews)Originally I purchased these tongs to be used with my Breville Gourmet Wok which has a non-stick finish. I primarily use them for dishing out food from the wok and they work nicely. Mine were lime green, btw..
But I found a better use for them. I have this greenhouse window over the sink with two shelves. The upper shelf has 8 orchids in 3 and 4 inch pots. In order to water those plants, I had to go into the garage and get the step stool, climb on the stool and bring down all of the plants to the counter, water and drain, climb back on the stool and put the plants back on the shelf. I have to admit the uppershelf was not watered as frequently as it should.
After seeing how well the gripper tongs worked at actually gripping things other than food, I tried them on the pots on the upper shelf. Grabbed a pot, watered, drained, and put each one back up on the shelf with just the gripper tongs. So easy breezy... !! I still have to tippy toe, so I'm thinking of getting the 16" version of these tongs eventually.
