This uniquely artful kitchen accessory replaces the conical ridged center found in standard juicers with a hummingbird's beak. This ceramic juicer stands 3 inches tall, with a delightfully detailed rendering of hummingbird beak, body and feathers. Juices collect in the small bowl surrounding the hummingbird at the center, and it also includes floral accents on either side of the bowl that can be used as a pouring spout. Dishwasher safe.
Designed by Lesley Look Hong, the juicer takes its inspiration from the red-billed Streamertail hummingbird--the national bird of Jamaica, nicknamed Dr. Bird. Some stories say the origin for the nickname comes from its erect black crest and tails resembling the top hat and long tail coats worn by doctors of old, while other stories peg the origin to the way Dr. Bird lances flowers as it flits about finding nectar.
