Metrokane Mighty OJ Home Juicer-Orange with Chrome Head and Handle Review

Metrokane Mighty OJ Home Juicer-Orange with Chrome Head and Handle

I have lost a lot of oranges as the squeezer doesn't squeeze the juice completely. It is also really hard to use as I have to use a lot of strength so it can hardly work. In the past I had one of the same kind that was really easy to use. I had to put in in the drawer and go get another one at the grocery store close to my house. I saw one of this kind at World Market and it really works, and the price is even lower than the price I paid for your Metrokane. I don't recommend anyone to buy this product. The only reason I didn't send it back is because I throw the original box away. If there were a way to return this I would gladly do it, otherwise I will take it to the dump next time we go there.

I bought this juicer because I recently started the Master Cleanser Fast. I was using one of those hand manual type juicers. For the amount of lemons I needed daily, it was a lot of work. I spotted this juicer on Amazon.com. First of all I really liked the look and design. So I orderd it and got it next day shipping. I took it out of the box and went to town. It was great and powerful. It handled the many lemons I needed on a daily bases like a champ. Thanks Amazon!!

Squeeze fresh juice quickly and easily with this electric juicer. It provides small and large cones that nicely accommodate small-size fruit like lemons and limes and larger-size fruit like oranges and grapefruit. The reamer automatically reverses itself, turning left and right, to extract the maximum amount of juice, while its two adjustable filters provide control over the pulp. To use, simply cut the citrus fruit into two pieces, cutting across the sections, then gently press each half of the fruit onto the cone. The citrus juicer will start twisting back and forth automatically. The unit holds up to 33 ounces and offers a generous handle and a drip-free spout for graceful serving. Other thoughtful details include a transparent lid that protects against dust, a see-through glass juice-level window with measuring marks up the side, convenient cord storage, and dishwasher-safe removable parts for quick cleanup. The 30-watt fruit juicer measures 7 by 6 by 10 inches.

Tornado Stainless Steel Manual Wheatgrass Juicer (Same Model as the Back to Basics Wheat Grass Juicer) Review

Tornado Stainless Steel Manual Wheatgrass Juicer (Same Model as the Back to Basics Wheat Grass Juicer)

This product requires a lot of wheat grass to product a small amount of actual wheat grass juice. It take's approximately 30 minutes to juicer an oz of wheat grass. It's fairly easy to clean, takes about 5 minutes to dissemble everything and clean it. It's very important to dry everything before reassembling. If your purchasing this product outside the US, for example Canada, expect expensive shipping prices and costly import fees with standard shipping.

Magic Bullet BER-0601 Bullet Express Trio 3-in-1 Blender System Review

Magic Bullet BER-0601 Bullet Express Trio 3-in-1 Blender System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own this product and would not, repeat would not recommend it. The motor overheats easily and well under the cautionary three minute time stated in the directions. It will run again AFTER SITTING TO COOL OVERNIGHT. Mine overheated after about a minute pulsing pre softened ice cream. Seriously.
The juicer does not do the job, it doesn't even come close to extracting all the juice from tomatoes or cooked elderberries which should not be much of a challenge. The pulp cup is tiny and fills quickly with juice laden pulp. I put the tomatoes through the Bullet three times before setting up my other juicer and still got juice from the "pulp" when I put it through that. The pieces do not fit tightly together which allows some of what little juice it does extract to spray in a pretty fan pattern across the front of whatever shirt you are wearing, including the sleeves so don't bother with an apron.
The processer itself does chop stuff up but the pieces are not uniform and they fly all over the place when they come out of the Bullet rather than falling nicely into a bowl. If you have a helper they could hold the bowl and tip it up to catch the pieces. I tried raising the bowl up as high as I could but still had food pieces all over. And the feed chute is so small (especially in relation to the size of the cutting bowl)that by the time you've cut the food small enough to feed it through with just a few more cuts you could have the job done without all the set up and clean up hassle.
This product has as many pieces as the processors they claim it is superior to, and these pieces are cumbersome to handle and take a ton of room to store. The way you have to grab the blade to remove it for cleaning is of some concern although I was very very careful and never got cut. There are also small tabs on the plastic attachments that seem like they might not hold up to mush use. However, that isn't a problem for me because mine sits in a box in the basement. I wish I'd kept my old 1970's processer!
The company is completely unresponsive, so if you think you still want to try this product pay careful attention to that 30 day guarantee and be prepared to pay for the shipping to get it to you and return it which adds up to over [...]. I'd sell mine but that would be irresponsible. Read other reviews.

I purchased this for my mother for Christmas, and when I saw it I was blown away! Truly beautiful and best of all very functional, in fact I want to get one for myself. It would be better if it was totally stainless steel instead of aluminum, but you do have to rinse it under running water after using it to keep it from tarnishing. I still give it 5 stars!

Champion Household Juicer (International Australian Model) Review

Champion Household Juicer (International Australian Model)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I first used this juicer when I worked at a high end restaurant, we used it all the time. It can make peanut and other nut butters as well as juice about anything. I purchased one for home around 10 years ago and it is still going strong. I take it to my kids day care and push peeled frozen bananas through it for some of the best home made instant "ice cream" you can find (all the kids love it and it is cool to watch and participate). This also works great for frozen peaches - amazing stuff that everyone likes and is great for you. I generally juice fruits like carrots and apples as well as nuts and the above frozen fruits. It has a magnetic safety interlock where the motor with the "masticator" part will not turn on unless the housing is attached. All the parts are sturdy and the motor is more than adequate.
It takes about 7 min. to clean depending on the material, nut butters don't rinse right off like vegetables.
There is a screen that allows the juice to flow through, and it does not seem to clog with prolonged use. If you take the screen out and put in the solid plate it will then grind up things like nut butters and frozen fruit. This can produce minor drips around the plate which is the only real down side. A little expensive but I figure it will be inherited.

Wheat Health Juicer Review

Wheat Health Juicer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I first bought the juicer, I cleaned it with soap and water per the instructions. I put an apple in to see what would happen, and it made 1-1/2 pure apple silver juice. It must have been the rust. Then next time I washed it again, coated it with oil, I put a carrot and an apple and I got liquid silver pulp coming out. I washed it YET again then tried to put wheatgrass through it, and again silver-wheatgrass juice. If you are going to buy a wheatgrass juicer, buy an electric one, or one that is made of plastic and metal that doesn't ooze silver liquid. It was a complete waste of fifty bucks; do yourself a favor and avoid this at all costs.

Tristar JLPJB Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Review

Tristar JLPJB Jack LaLanne Power Juicer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This juicer is one of the worst juicers I've ever used. Don't be fooled by the claims made during the infomercial. This juicer barely has the ability to shred the produce fed into it, much less efficiently extract the any juice from the pulp. Worst of all, it is actually dangerous to use. It all comes down to poor design.
The primary flaw with this juicer is that the feed tube directs its contents into the center of the shredding blade where it spins the slowest. To make matters worse, the teeth at the center of the shredding blade are arranged in the same circular path. This tooth arrangement fails to generate any shredding action between the blades, and only grinds circular groves in the produce. Thus, the produce tends feed very slowly, or actually stalls in the grind tube. This slowed feeding action also seems to cause the centrifuge basket to slow down, and clog up. I'm not exactly sure why this happens, but I suspect it may have something to do with the produce binding between the bottom edge of the feed tube and the center of the shredding blade. Obviously, once the centrifuge basket gets clogged, less juice is extracted, the pulp is wetter, and more juice ends up in the pulp receptacle.
The second flaw is that the pulp is only discharged into the pulp receptacle from one side of the shredding /centrifuge chamber. This tends to cause the pulp to linger in the centrifuge basket, and compounds the clogging problem. Once the centrifuge basket gets clogged, the pulp begins to stick to the inside of the shredding /centrifuge chamber, and eventually seems to make its way into the juice catch basin.
The third flaw is that juice catch basin is flat on the bottom, and does not drain well. Pulp particles in the juice tend to settle on the bottom the juice catch basin, and eventually may stop the juice from draining. When this occurs, juice will flow over the inside lip of the juice catch basin, and stream down the motor housing. Wait; it gets worse! Since the motor's cooling vents are on the sides of the motor housing directly below the juice catch basin, juice escaping from the juice catch basin tends to flow into the motor housing through the cooling vents creating an electrical hazard.
Not flaws, but worth mentioning:
When the juice catch basin is installed, and the shredding blade spun onto the drive shaft before the centrifuge basket is installed, it will be very difficult to uninstall the shredding blade because there is no way to stop the drive shaft from rotating.
Since the feed tube is located in close proximity to the drain spout & juice cup, small produce items sometimes fall into the juice cup during the juicing process.

Jack LaLanne&#39s Power Juicer (White) Review

Jack LaLanneand#39s Power Juicer (White)

(More customer reviews)
I've had juicers before. But this one is my favorite. I have the black one, which they don't show here. I found mine at Walmart. They finally started selling them. It is quiet, easy to assemble, and easy to clean. Handsome too! I do have Montel's blender. "But" I really don't care for all of the pulp with my juice, my digestive track really doesn't like it! :) If I want to add more pulp to my juice I only have to go to the bin that holds the pulp! For me, too much pulp effects the flavor of the juice, and not in a good way. I prefer my juice without all the pulp. If I had to choose which one to keep, either the blender by Montel or the Juicer by Jack Lalanne, I'd definitely choose the Juicer by Jack Lalanne. While the blender is good for making doughs and what not, I rarely make pizza dough myself and have a small Ninja for that! :)
I'm just really pleased with this Juicer in every aspect and wanted to share.

Back to Basics BPE3BRAUS Blender Express Plus 11-Piece Mixing System
Average Reviews:

It's funny, the different experiences people have with the same products. Now, this review is for the Blender Express, not the "Plus." The only difference is the attachments. My wife picked up a couple of these at Wally World after Christmas (2005). They were in a clearance cart for [...] each. I figured that they were probably pretty cheap and I'd have a backup after I burned the first one up. Well, a little over a year later, I'm still using the first one. I use it 3-4 times a week for smoothies and frozen coffee drinks. I have to say that I really abuse the little guy. My coffee drinks call for half of the mug to be filled with crushed ice.
It will make these drinks with a minimum of "crunchy" ice particles and they are quite enjoyable. I never expected it to last this long because, truthfully, from day one, I have been able to notice the "burned wire" odor coming from the unit as I continuosly overload the mug. Yet, it is still chugging along. Even at the full price, a year of this type of useage certainly makes it a good value. And, cleanup is extremely easy and the "make it and run" mug is really handy. Of course, for larger quantities, I fall back on the larger blender. If I ever do wear out both of these units, I would not hesitate to purchase another.
UPDATE: 7/10/2009
Just wanted to add this note. Two and a half years after the above review (makes the unit three-odd years old), we're still using it!!! It still makes the smoothest frozen drinks. I guess we really got lucky with this one. I can't even remember where we put the second one! :)

KitchenAid RVSA Slicer/Shredder Attachment for Stand Mixers Review

KitchenAid RVSA Slicer/Shredder Attachment for Stand Mixers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nota Bene:
I have tried to contact Kitchen-Aid for over a month, wrote 4 EM via the KitchenAid customer support Website, and beside their promise to answer within 3 business day, I have yet to hear from them.
I'm truly disappointed with their customer support and the RSVA.
Kitchen-Hell: "for the way it's made"Well,
What a deception!
Probably the worst shredder I ever used.
I purchase this product in the idea that KitchenAid was a good brand (by experience), but I must admit that I have the feeling that I paid $50 for a very, very poor shredder, which should be sold $15 maximum. A $7 Walmart hand shredder makes a better job.
I have the feeling that KitchenAid just ripped me off.
I'm a mechanical engineer and I love to cook, and I'm normally the type to buy one excellent knife instead of 2 poor ones, but this time, I was fooled.
So , let's review the product:
First of all, the cones are not stainless steel, but regular steel, badly chromed.
It means that, one day or another, they will rust.
How can you tell? Use a magnet, if it is not sticking, it's a 18/10 stainless steel. (18% Chrome + 10% Nickel, a TRUE Stainless Steel)
Try with your kitchenaid mixing bowl, and you'll see.
It also means that if you ever try to sharpen the slicing blades, you'll take off the chrome and it WILL rust very quickly.
I'm sorry, but a brand like Kitchenaid should AT LEAST, provides Stainless Steel cones. Especially at 50 bucks a piece. (and I suppose that's why it is stated HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY), not allowed to use regular steel in a restaurant)
The blades are either dull, unevenly sharpened, or not at all(sides). It mashes or puree very well, but the cuts are uneven and messy. I just wanted a slicer, not a musher.
The sharpening on (my) slicing cones is visibly uneven. one side slices, the other not.
The gap between the cones and the body is too big, food goes in, get pushed in by the dull cones to end up in a mess.
The cones rotate unevenly, off balance, which adds to the previous mess.
The length of the blades is smaller than the size of the spout. (the cutting length should be a least the size of the spout, not smaller )
In short: everything that goes is those corners is miserably mashed So, as a result, in my opinion: buy something else.
Add $20 and buy yourself something decent. Plus, the attachment is so bulky that a food processor will not take much space.
My grade on a 10 scale: 3
Probably the worst shredder I ever used.
And if you ever decide to buy one , please contact me , for $25, you'll have an almost brand new one.

This attachment performs the cutting and shredding duties your food processor might: select the proper cone, slip it into the plastic housing, and attach all to your stand mixer's hub with a metal shaft. You can shred potatoes, onions, nuts, and chocolate, or slice vegetables for cooking or munching. While it adds versatility to your mixer, the unit is cumbersome to disassemble--more so than KitchenAid's other nifty attachments--and its several parts make it difficult to store. Still, it's easier on your arms than manual slicing and shredding, especially for large quantities, and all parts are dishwasher-safe. --Betsy Danheim

I bought this machine for its power and brand-name quality. It is powerfull indeed and is sturdy in construction. With its centrifugal approach to extracting juices, the machine really gets the juice out until the last drop. I really liked it until I tried putting watermelon in it: the machine grinded the juice shreder plate inside. No more quality and effortless juicing after that. Had the machine replaced thinking it was just the particular unit I had purchased, but it happened again. So, I was left with having to purchase a replacement plate from the manufacturer. This third time I tried grapes, and whamo!...for the third time the machine ruined its plate. At $40.00 a piece it is no joke having to replace the plate a couple of times, plus it is not a good feeling when you don't know how the machine will react when certain fruits are juiced. After these three incidents, I only use it to extract juices from carrots, apples, and celery...no more grapes or watermelon...in all the machine will do a good job so long it does not encounter a seed in the fruit, else say bye-bye to the plate.

Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome Review

Cuisinart BFP-703CH SmartPower Duet Blender/Food Processor, Chrome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been shopping for a new blender to replace my 1985 Osterizer, which has been leaving big chunks of ice in frozen drinks. I saw a really interesting consumer-oriented cooking show on the local PBS station one Saturday afternoon - they taste test their recipes on the public and test kitchen equipment. They had a test segment on blenders and claimed the fiftydollar Osterizer unit was the best, had the strongest motor and did a better job than even the hundredplusdollar blenders. I went out and bought one (actually, I got the Oster version of the Duet, with the blender and a food processor attachment). I quickly returned the Oster unit because 1) It could not a crush ice in frozen drinks and was actually worse than my 17 year old, worn out blender - it's pretty hard to suck a 3/4" ice rock up a straw; 2) Did not circulate thick liquids well unless stirred with a spoon through the hole in the top cover; 3) It was loud as heck; and 4) the food processor attachment was nearly useless because it was very small, only had a chopping blade and had no feeder - you unlatch the processor, empty out the one cup or so of chopped food, put more food inside, re-latch the processor lid and put back on the blender base.
After reading some of the reviews here, I was pretty much set on the similarly priced (one c-note) Kitchen Aid so I went to my local department store to look around and a bright and bubbly teenage sales clerk came up and asked me if I needed help. I almost said no (I can read the box myself) but instead decided not to exercise age discrimination and asked if she had any recommendations for blenders. Surprisingly, she said "Yes, I tested a bunch of them for a Christmas present for my dad a few months ago and the Cuisinart was definitely the best. It does the best job of crushing ice, is easy to clean up and my dad loves his!" Given that it came with a small food processor attachment for the same price as the Kitchen Aid and I had a 30 day return policy if I didn't like it, I decided to give it a shot. Here's my observations:
1) It blends great. It has as much power as you would ever need and frozen drinks come out smooth and frosty, they way they should. No more small icebergs clogging up the straws. You can dump a tray full of ice cubes into the blender, hit the "Ice Crusher" button, and it will give you a pitcher of finely crushed ice in about 30 seconds. Thick liquids still circulate well in the wide pitcher body.
2) It's quiet. I would say this blender puts out only about half the volume of noise that my old Oster unit or the newer one I returned did. Maybe there is a quieter unit on the market, but for the other reviewers complaining about the noise, I have to ask what they expect when blending ice cubes. No doubt, it makes more noise turning ice cubes into a liquid form than, say, a pot on the stove, but it is easily quiet enough to make a smoothie or margarita after midnight in an apartment without waking the neighbors.
3) The food processor works great. Sure it is smaller, at a 3-4 cup capacity, than the big 11 cup processors, but otherwise, it works exactly like its bigger brothers that made Cuisinart famous for the past several decades. I think the reviewer complaining about the processor must have had a few too many dacquiris or margaritas from his/her machine when he/she criticized this accessory. The feeding tube is a complete necessity for chopping more than a cup of food or using the grating and slicing blades (which work extremely well). So what if it sticks out a few inches? I used the processor to make hash browns for eight people for Easter brunch, and it did a great job of chopping the onions and shredding the potatoes; I did have to empty the moderately sized processor container twice while shredding the potatoes, but it only took about two minutes to turn eight medium-large potatoes into uniformly shredded hash browns.
4) It's easy to clean. The base unit just wipes clean, with no protruding buttons or difficult channels to clean out. The pitcher is also easy to rinse clean.
A big caveat: the reliability. I did not read the reviews here about the easily breakable plastic motor locking ring on the blender base until after my 30 day return period ended. So far, so good (I'm giving it a ***** rating based on my own experiences and am not going to let other reviewers' experiences change my score) but I really hope, knock-on-wood-fingers-crossed, that Cuisinart cured that defect by the time it got around to manufacturing my unit. It does have a heavy, very steady base and feels like a well made unit.
I hope I get many years of happy use out of my Duet, but will report back if I suffer the same problem that others have experienced.
EDIT 3/07:
Eventually, my Duet's blender unit failed, perhaps somewhat differently than others have reported. After about six years of frequent use, the black plastic gear ring on the bottom of the blender container that meshes with the drive unit in the base locked up on me and would not turn on the bottom of the blender, meaning the blade inside the blender to which it is attached would not turn. I contacted Cuisinart and bought a new one for around $10 or $12 shipped, took the old one off, installed the new one and in a few minutes had it running again good as new. I still really like the unit and think it is terrific. Spending a dozen dollars on a simple replacement part for an item we use so frequently is not unreasonable and I'm not lowering my score as a result of that temporary problem. In 2007 there are now a lot more higher end blenders available than there were when I bought this Cuisinart in 2001 and I'm sure some of them have even stronger motors and are slightly more quiet. However, this is still a very good unit and the hundred bucks I spent on it was money very well spent. Nowadays, I've seen this blender-food processor combo available for as low as half what I paid on sale and as low as fortybucks refurbished, so I doubt that there's anything on the market that is even close to being as good of a value.
