It makes the job of peeling and slicing the apples the shortest part of the job when preparing apple desserts.
Really worth the money spent, in saved time and frustration.
It will peel, core and slice an apple as fast as you can turn the handle, about 30 seconds per apple.
You'll probably peel more apples then you need, just because it's neat to watch it work.
Minus: You have to hold the cutter back until it gets started on BIG apples (or LARGE potatoes).
You need a smooth non porious surface to attach it too or it requires two hands to use it.

(More customer reviews)I received the item quickly. I used to have the regular size slicer/corer. It was ok, but this is great, it not only slices pieces the regular size but it also can slice them smaller which is a great option. The other thing i liked about this one is it comes with a plastic bottom cover which acts as a release for the apples....so u don't have 2 pull them out of the slicer all u do is set it on the plastic cover/plate (provided) and it conveniently pushes the slices/core out of the slicer. Would definitely recommend!

I've been peeling, coring, and slicing apples by hand for years, but this takes all the hard work out of my favorite desserts. In seconds, the apple is all clean and ready to bake. Great for pears, too. I have a dehydrator and I've made dried pears and apples for Christmas gifts for people this year using this handy device. I even got my boyfriend to help me because it's so fun to use...and he never cooks!
All of the blades are replaceable, so there is nothing to every wear out. I'm assuming this is the cast iron version of the device. I can't vouch for the aluminum version. The cast iron model is like something my grandmother would have had...rare to find this kind of quality in a gadget these days. No plastic!
